Tesla Updates Model Y For China Market
JAKARTA - Tesla surprisingly made an update to the Model Y in China by making changes to the exterior, interior, and some specific specifications. This update is not as big as it is to the Model 3 but it is a relatively limited update.
In the exterior, the Model Y has a new 19-inch black wheel design, which replaces the previous silver Gemini wheel. While uncertain, the new wheels may be more aerodynamic, as the CLTC distance rating is slightly increased for versions with 19-inch wheels.
For Model Y with rear wheels driving, quoted from InsideEvs, October 1, its distance is estimated to reach 554 km, an increase of about 9 km or almost 1.7 percent compared to the previous one. The Long Range version with all-wheel drive and dual motors has a CLTC distance of 688 km, which is an increase of about 28 km or 4.2 percent compared to the previous one. This increase is too large to be caused only by change of wheels. The travel distance rating for the Performance version remains unchanged.
Another interesting thing is that the early version of the RWD Y Model has faster acceleration, with a time of 0-100 km/hour of about 5.9 seconds, compared to the previous 6.9 seconds.
On the interior, the Model Y is now equipped with an RGB ambient light on the dashboard and new textile dashboard material that replaces the wood trim.

The new Made-in-China (MIC) version of the Y model is also equipped with a self-driving Hardware 4.0 (HW4) computer and several other improvements (NVH reduction).
The third price for the Model Y MIC version in China remains unchanged and starts from 263,900 yuan or equivalent to Rp570.7 million.
Until now, it is not known whether other Tesla factories in California, Texas, or Germany will implement similar changes in the near future. This slightly updated Model Y may soon appear in other markets besides China through exports, including Canada.
