The Domestic Textile Industry Is Sluggish, The Ministry Of Industry Calls It Because Of Imported Goods On Social Media
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) considers that the sluggish textile and textile product (TPT) industry in the country is due to the impact of imported goods that flood social media (sosmed).
This was conveyed by the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin), Febri Hendri Antoni Arif, at the Ministry of Industry, Jakarta, Friday, September 29.
Therefore, Febri said that his party supports the presence of Permendag Number 31 of 2023.
According to him, social media does not necessarily sell goods, but can only be promoted.
"The reason is that we see a lot of imported products entering through social media. We support government policies that limit media sales and transactions, we support social media for promotion only," said Febry.
It was said earlier that the government through the Ministry of Trade officially banned social media platforms, including TikTok, from serving buying and selling transactions, such as TikTok Shop's current service.
This rule is contained in the Regulation of the Minister of Trade (Permendag) number 31 of 2023 concerning Business Licensing, Advertising, Guidance, and Supervision of Business Actors in Trade Through Electronic Systems (PMSE).
Adapun Permendag Nomor 31 Tahun 2023 yang sejak kemarin resmi berlaku ini merupakan revisi dari Permendag Nomor 50 Tahun 2020 yang sebelumnya berlaku.
Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan said the issuance of this rule does not prohibit social media applications as a means of trading such as TikTok Shop. However, reorganizing in accordance with the new provisions is that there should be no buying and selling transactions in it.
"We organize this, we arrange it. If there are several other countries that prohibit it, we don't. We arrange it, so that it's not a free competition, but fair and fair competition. Not free but fair but fair. That's the big point," he said at a press conference, at the Ministry of Trade Office, Jakarta, Wednesday, September 27.
