Referee Mode In Score Fixing Case: Not Raising Offside Flag

JAKARTA - The Anti-Mafia Ball Task Force revealed the game of the referees involved in the match fixing case using the old mode. The referee took advantage of offside rules.

"The modus operandi carried out by the referee is to regulate the course of the match to win club x. One of them is by not raising the flag on the offside," said Deputy Head of Criminal Investigation Unit and Head of the Anti-Mafia Ball Task Force, Inspector General Edi Suheri to reporters, Wednesday, September 27.

From the results of the investigation, the referees who are now suspects are said to have received bribes of around Rp. 100 million. The bribe was given at the referee's hotel to stay.

"The club gave Rp100 jura to the referees at the hotel where the referees were staying, with the intention that club X win the match against club Y," he said.

Originally, there were four referees from six people named as suspects. They have the initials M as the middle referee, E as assistant referee 1, R as assistant referee 2, and A as the reserve referee.

While the other two are K as LO and A who are couriers delivering money.

In this case, the referees were charged with Article 3 of Law Number 11 of 1980 concerning the Crime of Bribery Juncto Article 55 Paragraph 1 1 of the Criminal Code with a maximum penalty of 3 years and a maximum fine of Rp. 15 million.

The suspects K and A are charged with Article 2 of Law 11 of 1980 concerning bribery in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph 1 to 1 of the Criminal Code with a penalty of 5 years and a fine of a maximum of Rp. 15 million.
