Worried About Security Due To KKB, Trigana Temporarily Stops Jayapura-Oxybil Route

JAYAPURA - Airline Trigana Air since Thursday (21/9) has temporarily suspended its flights to Oksibil, Bintang Mountains Regency, Papua Mountains due to security factors.

"From the reports received since yesterday, Trigana has not flown to Oksibil, either passenger planes want cargo," said Sentani Airport Public Relations official Surya Eka, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, September 22.

Trigana serves Jayapura-Oxybil flights every day or is a regular flight.

Deputy Area Manager of Papua Trigana Air Ahmad Irwan Rochendi separately admitted that for the time being flights both passengers and cargo to Oksibil had been temporarily suspended, since Thursday (21/9) flights to Oksibil were temporarily suspended due to security factors.

Moreover, a video of the shooting carried out by armed groups against passing planes circulated. Therefore, for the safety of passengers and flight crews, temporarily stopping flights to the route.

It is planned that on Sunday (24/9) the Jakarta team will hold a meeting with the security forces and managers of Oksibil Airport before ensuring that they operate the aircraft again to serve Jayapura-Oxybil.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Airport Management Unit (UPBU) Oksibil Agus So previously stated that the airport was still operating normally but left it entirely to the flight operator to decide whether to operate or not.

Moreover, the Bintang Mountains Police have provided security guarantees, said UPBU Head Oksibil Agus Hadi.
