Medan Polrestabes Arrest Subsidized Gas Oplos, 1,000 Elpiji Tabs Confiscated
Medan Police Satreskrim personnel arrested a subsidized gas supplier on Jalan Jermal XII Medan, North Sumatra, by confiscating as many as 1,000 LPG gas cylinders.
Officers also arrested one suspect ES who was suspected of being the owner of the mixed gas home industry.
"This raid began with information from the public to the Medan Police Criminal Investigation Unit which stated that a house on Jalan Jermal XII was used as a production site for adulterated gas," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Medan Polrestabes Kompol Teuku Fathir Mustafa as reported by ANTARA, Friday, September 22.
The police followed up on the information, went to the TKP to conduct an investigation and raided the location of the subsidized gas supply.
"At that location, the team found a practice of misuse of subsidized oil and gas fuel, namely by moving the contents of the subsidized 3 kg gas cylinder into a 12 kg gas cylinder," he said.
He said that from the raid on the location, personnel confiscated 1,000 LPG gas cylinders by arresting one suspect.
"The suspect got this gas cylinder by taking it from several bases around Medan City and Deli Serdang Regency. The location of the suspect's house is used for gas polling activities, and it has been prepared," he said.

After mixing gas from 3 kg cylinders into 12 kg gas cylinders, the suspect then sold it to various areas, both in Medan and Aceh.
"So this 12 kg gas is sold to the locations of restaurants and users who have ordered it first. This activity has been carried out by the suspect for about a month," he said.
The suspect ES is suspected of Article 55 of the Oil and Gas Law with a penalty of six years in prison.
"Currently, the suspect is in the detention of the Medan Police Criminal Investigation Unit against other perpetrators. We are currently investigating," said Fathir.
