Midfielder Maddy Cusack Dies, Sheffield United Women Mourns

JAKARTA - Midfielder Sheffield United Women, Maddy Cusack, died at the age of 27. This news was announced by the Women's Championship club on Thursday, September 21.

Cusack made 100 appearances for the club last season, having joined in 2019. He also works at the club office in Bramall Lane as a marketing executive.

"This is heart-breaking news for everyone," said Stephen Bettis, CEO of the club.

"Maddy has a unique position because he is part of a number of teams at Sheffield United and is popular with everyone associated with him," he added.

"His personality and professionalism make him proud of his family - he will be missed a lot," Bettis said.

Cusack signed a contract extension in July for a sixth season with the club. The club did not provide details about the cause of death.
