Police Reveal Pandeglang The Highest Region Of Cases Of Sexual Violence Against Women In Banten
BANTEN - Banten Regional Police (Polda) recorded Pandeglang Regency as an area in Banten with the first order of sexual violence against children and women in the last three years.
"This activity is one of the efforts to reduce the number of sexual violence against women and children. Because solving this problem requires the involvement of many parties," said Head of Sub-Directorate IV of the Renakta Ditreskrimum of the Banten Police, Kompol Herlia Hartarani in an event to strengthen cooperation in handling cases of violence against women and children in the Hall of the Pandeglang Regency DP2KBP3A Office, Thursday, September 14, confiscated by Antara.
Based on existing data, the number of cases of sexual violence against children and women in Pandeglang in 2020 there were 28 cases, 2021 as many as 70 cases, 2022 as many as 55 cases. Meanwhile, in 2023 the period from January to September there were 74 cases of sexual violence.
"We urge the public to work together with government officials to reduce the number of crimes against women and children. Let's care for children and women together, and parents pay more attention to their children in educating and parenting," he said.
Head of Forensic Installation, dr. Baety Adhayati added, handling victims of sexual violence is not only from a medical perspective, but also from a psychological perspective.
So in this case, he continued, special handling is needed for victims of sexual violence by doctors who are experts in their fields.
"So we are strengthening the handling, how to refer and also how to provide assistance so that the victim gets assistance," he added.

According to him, the high number of cases of violence against children and women in Pandeglang Regency has become a special note for local governments to find solutions so that cases of sexual crimes can be suppressed.
One of them, he said, is to routinely conduct socialization and education to all relevant agencies and the community, about how to prevent and handle sexual violence.
