Born in Central Maluku, Maluku on August 7, 1976, Bahlil Lahadalia, who is now a minister in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, has pursued his career from scratch.
Before being known as a businessman, Bahlil struggled to live by trading cakes to become a public transport driver.
Bahlil's father used to work as a construction worker. Meanwhile, his mother also worked to help the family's economy by becoming a grandson.
Since he was in elementary school, Bahlil has helped the family's economy by selling cakes at school. This is done in order to buy shoes and pay for school.
When he attended the first middle level, Bahlil became a conductor. In the middle of the upper middle class, he works as an angkot driver.
He lived this work until he qualified at the Port Numbay Economic Sciences College in Jayapura, Papua.
During his college days, Bahlil was also active in student movement organizations. He has served as General Treasurer of the Islamic Student Association (HMI).

Over time, Bahlil and his friends at HMI established a consulting firm for PT Primatama Cipta Niaga. He served as president director and led 70 employees.
Next, Bahlil founded his own company. After leaving Primatama Cipta Niaga in 2003, he targeted the wood processing industry.
In 2010, Bahlil founded PT Rifa Capital which is the parent company of 10 companies. Its business productivity reaches various sectors, including mining, construction, logistics, plantations, and property.
After becoming a successful entrepreneur, Bahlil joined the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (Hipmi). His activities in Hipmi brought him together with businessmen who would become politicians, including President Joko Widodo.
His career in Hipmi also continued to skyrocket and his peak was elected as chairman of Hipmi in 2015. Bahlil became the first Papuan son to lead an entrepreneurial organization. The position was held until 2019.
In October 2019, President Jokowi appointed Balil as Head of the Investment Coordinating Board, which later turned into the Ministry of Investment.
