Malaysia Budgets IDR 65 Trillion To Anticipate Flood Disasters
JAKARTA - Malaysia has budgeted up to 20 billion ringgit (RM) or around Rp. 65.66 trillion to anticipate flood disasters through 233 flood management projects in various regions.
Malaysian Minister of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad in the Madani economic narrative program and the 2024 Malaysian revenue and expenditure budget dialogue in Kuala Lumpur, Wednesday, said that in every project carried out, it is estimated that 2.5 million Malaysians will be protected from the risk of a flood disaster.
He also said Malaysia had prepared funds of RM360 million or around Rp1.18 trillion to increase preparedness to deal with floods through river maintenance, strengthening and maintaining the stability of cliffs to reduce the risk of flood disasters.
"We check for empang who are older than the age of Malaysian independence. If they are not treated, they are afraid of inefficient due to deposits and so on," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 13.
The Malaysian government, according to him, has also prepared flood hazards, making it easier for people to buy clear insurance, bankable.
