Case Files For Smuggling Of IDR 7.2 Billion Were Handed Over To The Tangerang City Prosecutor's Office
TANGERANG - Soekarno-Hatta Customs and Excise Investigation Team submitted a case file for the suspect in a diamond smuggling case worth Rp7.2 billion, which is an Indian citizen, RA (25), to the Tangerang City District Attorney.
Soekarno-Hatta Customs and Excise Office, Gatot Sugeng Wibowo said, the suspect was immediately detained at the Tangerang Youth Prison for prosecution by the Prosecutor.
"In this submission, we also included evidence of crimes in the form of eleven packs of diamonds weighing a total of 679 grams," said Head of the Soekarno-Hatta Customs and Excise Office, Gatot Sugeng Wibowo, Thursday, September 7.
"Passports, boarding passes, plane tickets, proof of hotel bookings, cellphones, cash in the amount of 1700 Indian Rupees, 220 Thai Baths, and Rp1,386,000 in cash and underwear where the diamonds were hidden," he continued.
Gatot also said that the disclosure of the suspect in the smuggling of RA was secured by Customs and Excise officers shortly after arriving at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Soetta) on Wednesday, June 14.
He was secured by Soekarno-Hatta Customs and Excise officers for smuggling imported goods diamonds against the law on goods in the form of eleven packs of precious stones suspected of being diamonds weighing a total of 679 grams worth Rp7.2 billion.

The mode used by the suspect, continued Gatot, is quite unique, namely by inserting a package containing diamonds in a cavity in modified underwear.
"Thanks to the foresight of Customs and Excise officers, the smuggling was successfully thwarted. The suspect was then detained at the Customs and Excise Headquarters Detention Center (Rutan)," he said
The suspect was charged with Article 102 letter e of Law Number 17 of 2006 concerning Amendments to Law Number 10 of 1995 concerning Customs with a maximum threat of 10 years.
