Experts Support The Establishment Of A New Government Agency For Artificial Intelligence Regulations In The United States "
JAKARTA - According to a survey conducted by Axios, Generation Lab, and airshed University, most experts believe that the United States should create a new federal government agency dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI) settings.
The survey involved 213 professors of computer science from 65 of the most prestigious universities in the United States, who were asked about various AI-related topics.
Based on survey data, when asked, "What is the best quantity to regulate AI?" the majority of respondents answered ether "the new government agency 'AI department' (37%) or "global organization or agreement" (22%).
Only 16% answered "Congress," only 2 percent higher than the number of respondents opted "unrelevant: AI is unregulated." While the remaining 10% divided their answers between the "White Building" (4%), the private sector (3%), and "no one was supposed to set the AI" (3%).
The survey also raises questions about how the AI sector will affect the future of work. The majority of respondents indicated that they would advise a young man to pursue careers in AI, engineering, and data science.

At the other end of the spectrum, 31% of the surveyed professors said they would advise not to look for careers in the media, and 19% said the same thing about art when asked about fields that youth should avoid. "Nothing above" is the most common answer, as much as 42%.
When asked if respondents thought there was a "boundary threshold in AI evolution after which humans could not take back control," the answer was divided between "no, maybe not" (41%), "yes, maybe" (35%), "no, definitely not" (19%), and "yes, definitely" (6%).
The overall sentiment of these experts seems to be opposite to the general public and business leaders. Where the latter tends to take a big opinion about the potential of AI technology to rapidly change the landscape of the economy and employment in the near future. A total of 73% of the professors say they believe that AI will be able to perform less than 20% of the tasks humans are currently doing with a level of human or higher expertise.
