Restorative Justice Processed Singkawang Prosecutor's Office, Perpetrators Return Stolen Water Pumps
The Prosecutor's Office has completed the case of the theft of a water pump in Singkawang through restorative justice (RJ). The threat of punishment for this case is known to be less than five years in prison.
"The suspect in the theft with the initials M alias A alias T, where the person concerned committed a criminal act and violated Article 362 of the Criminal Code, namely the theft of a water pump which resulted in the victim experiencing a loss of Rp800 thousand," said Head of Evidence and Looted Goods at the Singkawang District Attorney's Office (Kejari), Abdul Arief in Singkawang, West Kalimantan (West Kalimantan, Wednesday, August 30, confiscated by Antara.
Abdul explained, given the settlement of the case through RJ, with the conditions determined by the Law finally through mediation involving the South Singkawang Police and several community leaders around the victim's house and the suspect, so that from this problem the victim forgives the perpetrator's actions.
"After we met, the victim finally apologized for the suspect's actions with a note that the suspect had also apologized and wanted to return the victim's water pump," he said.

Then the guarantee from the suspect's family is also willing to take care of the suspect so that he no longer repeats similar actions in the future.
"And Alhamdulillah, after we reported it to the leadership through the High Prosecutor's Office and the Attorney General's Office via a vicon, the leadership finally agreed to resolve this case through the RJ program," he said.
According to him, until August 2023, the Singkawang District Attorney's Office has completed two cases through RJ.
