Press Emissions, Bukit Asam Operates Hybrid Dump Trucks To Electric Buses

JAKARTA - PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) implements good mining practices (Good Mining Practice) with decarbonization programs, including replacing mining equipment that uses fossil fuels to become electric.

President Director of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), Arsal Ismail said that currently PTBA has operated 7 units of Electricity Shovel (PC3000-6E), 40 units of Hybrid Dump Truck (Belaz-75135), and 6 electricity-based Mining Pumps.

The use of electricity-based mining tools produces diesel fuel (BBM) savings of up to 7 million liters per year and reduces emissions by 19,777 tCO2e.

"PTBA seeks to carry out sustainable business practices so that it can contribute optimally to the community. In line with the vision of becoming a world-class energy company that cares about the environment, as well as efforts to support the Government to achieve the Net Zero Emission target in 2060 or previously," said Arsal, Thursday, August 24.

He added that PTBA has also operated 5 electric buses at Tarahan Port and 10 electric buses at the Tanjung Enim Mining Unit. A total of 15 electric buses have been operated by PTBA.

Reducing carbon emissions is estimated to reach 16 tons of CO2/year/bus. In addition, the use of electric buses reduces the use of fuel oil (BBM) to 9.672 liters/year/bus.

Not only the use of electric-based vehicles and mining equipment, continued Arsal, PTBA also continues to run a number of programs to reduce carbon emissions.

Among them are land reclamation, replacing ozone-depleting materials with other environmentally friendly materials, Project Cofiring Pilot PLTU Mouth Mining in South Sumatra, and so on.

"Decarbonization programs will continue to be implemented and developed in a sustainable manner in each company line to provide optimal results," concluded Arsal.
