Day Two Of Badminton World Championships 2023: 4 Indonesian Representatives Play
JAKARTA The 2023 Badminton World Championship is entering its second day. A total of four Indonesian representatives will compete today, at the Royal Arena, Copenhagen, Tuesday, August 22.
On the first day yesterday, Monday, August 21, as many as five Indonesian representatives played in the first round. Four of them stepped into the second half, while one was eliminated.
The only representative who was eliminated was Jonatan Christie. The owner of the 2018 Asian Games gold medal had to lift the suitcase after being forced to surrender by Malaysia's singles, Lee Zii Jia.
Meanwhile, the women's singles Putri Kusuma Wardani, the men's singles Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo, the women's doubles Lanny Tria Mayasari/Ribka Sugiarto, and the mixed doubles Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja were successful in the second half.
Of the four representatives who went to the second round, three of them will play today's match. They are Chico, Dejan/Gloria, and Putri Kusuma Wardani.
Meanwhile, another representative who appeared was Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari. The couple tried to win tickets to the second half, which had previously been secured by the three pairs above.
Chico will try to step into the third round against India's Prannoy HS representative, while Dejan/Gloria will meet ninth seed Robin Tableing/Selena Piek (Netherlands).
Then Putri Kusuma will face He Bing Jiao, the fifth seed from China. Meanwhile, Rinov/Pitha met Japanese representatives Hiroki Midorikawa/Natsu Saito (Japan).
