JAKARTA - Ahead of the two days of closure, the 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) exhibition was seen on Saturday afternoon with many visitors.
This annual event has undergone significant changes from previous editions with a number of new products introduced by various manufacturers.
Carrying the theme "Future Now," the 30th edition of GIIAS presents a variety of the latest vehicles equipped with cutting-edge technology, including several electric vehicles that really attract the attention of visitors.
Interestingly, what needs to be known is that some of these electric vehicles made their debuts in the Indonesian market through GIIAS 2023. The following are EV models that were first present in Indonesia in this annual automotive event:
Kia EV9
PT Cretaceous Indo Artha (KIA), as the APM of the Kia brand, officially introduced an electric-powered SUV to Indonesia, namely EV9. This car managed to steal the attention of visitors during the 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). Kia Indonesia presents EV9 GT-Line, a variant with impressive performance that combines an exterior design inspired by the philosophy of "Bold for Nature." This model is also considered a milestone for the design of the future electric SUV. With the GT-Line variant, EV9 equipped with a driving of all wheels (AWD), is able to reach a peak power of up to 372 dk and a torque of 700 Nm. Hyundai Ioniq 6
PT Hyundai Motor Indonesia (HMID) officially introduced its newest electric sedan, Ioniq 6, for the Indonesian market. Hyundai presents Ioniq 6 in a single variant, namely All-Wheel Drive (AWD), which is equipped with a double electric motor driving all wheels that can produce combined power of up to 320 dk and 605 Nm torque. The electric power is supported by a 77.4 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery which can produce a maximum distance of up to 519 km. Ioniq 6 AWD is priced at IDR 1.197 billion On The Road DKI Jakarta.
GWM Ora 03
The latest brand from China, Great Wall Motor (GWM), has succeeded in stealing attention in GIIAS 2023 by launching three sub-surfaces, one of which is Ora. Ora presents its flagship electric car, GWM Ora 03, which has a cute design with a concise dimension suitable for urban areas. The 03 ora has a length dimension of 4,235 mm, a width of 1,825 mm, a height of 1,596 mm, and a ground clearance as high as 145 mm. This car carries a five-door hatchback force with one front-driven electric motor that produces 143 dk power and 230 Nm torque. The battery with a capacity of 47.8 kWh lithium-ion is capable of carrying this car going up to 400 km. The exact price of this car has not been announced, but is predicted to be present at the Indonesian automotive market next year.
Wuling Air EV Lite
Wuling continued the presence of electric vehicles by introducing an entry-level version of Air EV called Lite in GIIAS 2023. Air EV Lite, with a compact size, allows its owners to have practical electric vehicles for operational and daily purposes. This vehicle uses a lithium ferro-phosphate battery with a capacity of 18 kWh capable of reaching a distance of 200 km in one charge. Wuling Air EV Lite is priced at IDR 188.9 million, including VAT incentives.
Citroen e-C3
Citroen, a well-known automotive brand from France, again shows its existence in the Indonesian automotive industry by introducing e-C3, a compact electric car. Citroen e-C3 is an electric version of Citroen C3, with a length dimension of 3,981 mm, a width of 1,733 mm, and a height of 1,604 mm. Although compact, e-C3 has four seats. This car has an electric motor measuring 57 dk and a torque of 143 Nm, which allows this car to reach its highest speed of up to 107 km/h. Volvo C40 Recharge
The iconic brand from Sweden, Volvo, is again present in Indonesia by presenting a line of electric vehicles, including the C40 Recharge. The C40 Recharge is a compact SUV that presents fierce competition in the electric vehicle segment. This car has a 78 kWh capacity battery capable of producing a distance of up to 500 km in one charge. This SUV has an all-wheel drive with an electric motor that produces up to 408 dk of power and 670 Nm of torque, which allows acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds. The C40 Recharge Volvo is offered at a price of IDR 1.36 billion, competing with other electric vehicles in Indonesia.
Neta V
Neta V is an SUV subcompact introduced since 2020. This car has a HPC 3.0 platform with front-driven electric motors, generating power between 54 and 94 dk. This car is also known as Neta AYA in other markets and has a battery option of between 35 kWh and 55 kWh which is capable of reaching a distance of between 301 km to 401 km in one charge. Neta started her journey in Indonesia by introducing Neta V in GIIAS 2023 and plans to assemble its local vehicle in the second quarter of 2024.
Maxus Mifa 9
Together with other Chinese brands, Maxus made his debut in the Indonesian automotive industry through GIIAS 2023. They introduced his latest SUV, Maxus Mifa 9. Mifa 9 is a large luxury MPV with a capacity of seven seats. The first electric MPV in Indonesia comes with electric motors and a 90 kWh battery capable of producing 245 dk of power and 350 Nm of torque. This car has an impressive range of up to 540 km in one charge. In competition with Toyota Alphard and Lexus LM, Maxus Mifa 9 is priced at IDR 1.425 billion On The Road DKI Jakarta for the Premium variant. Maxus now has five outlets in the Jabodetabek area.
