Pupuk Indonesia Collaborates With Jasa Raharja To Increase Land Fertility And Press Accident Rates On Toll Roads
PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) is organizing the "Dambaan Road (Supplementary Good Impact)" program in Jebed Selatan and Utara Villages, Pemalang, Central Java. This Creating Shared Value (CSV) activity is a collaboration with PT Jasa Raharja and aims to optimize the use of agricultural or straw waste for agricultural land sustainability while reducing the number of accidents on toll roads.
TJSL Pupuk Indonesia Senior Vice President (SVP) Rika Susanty said that this activity was Pupuk Indonesia's response to an accident on the Trans Java Toll Road, one of which was caused by straw combustion smoke blocking toll road users.
"This program helps farmers to take advantage of the harvest remaining straw as a fertilizer cultivator. Farmers are educated to post in the land (insitu) by using Petrogladiator, one of the biodecomposer products of the Pupuk Indonesia Group," said Rika in Pedurungan Village, Pemalang, Central Java, Tuesday, August 15. Rika explained that with Petrogladiator, farmers do not need to burn straw. Because in the product it will help increase c-organic levels of soil which will help fertilize and optimize fertilizer absorption during planting.
"So this is a very simple method, because by not burning straw, the soil nutrients become better and have an impact on increasing productivity. Because actually in the remaining straw, the harvest still contains elements P (phosphate) and K (kalium) which can fertilize plants, if burned it will actually disappear," said Rika.
This program carries the tagline Hahan Sehat, Perjalanan Selamat. Starting in the harvest season in early August 2023 with a land area of 23 Hectares (Ha). Through this collaboration program, Pupuk Indonesia hopes to contribute and support the nation's food security by becoming a friend of farmers.
Meanwhile, the Head of Jasa Raharja Institutional Affairs, Mochamad Saleh Priyadana, who represented the Head of the Institutional Division (Kadiv) of Jasa Raharja Corporate Strategy, Radito Risangadi, explained that collaborative activities with Pupuk Indonesia were the Company's commitment to prevent traffic accidents, one of which was on toll roads.
According to him, smoke from straw burning is one of the causes of accidents on toll roads. For information, the length of the Trans Java Toll Road currently reaches 615 km. On the right and left, the majority of the toll roads are agricultural land, and the phenomenon of burning the remaining harvest is still happening. This collaboration is a concrete form of our prevention of accidents with Pupuk Indonesia. Because there are still many conventional farmers by burning straw. Indeed, it is necessary to educate farmers so that they can help maintain the safety of road riders, especially on toll roads by no longer burning straw after harvest," said Dana.
On the same occasion, Gakkum Pemalang Police, Lindu appealed to the community, especially farmer groups working on land along the Pemalang-Pejagan toll road to stop burning post-harvest straw. The reason is, if the smoke from the burning causes traffic accidents, it can be subject to criminal penalties.
"Those who still burn land have a penalty for violating 360 of the Criminal Code and 359 of the Criminal Code with a minimum penalty of 1 year and a maximum of 5 years if the victim dies," Lindu said.
Therefore, he revealed that the Pemalang Police had carried out road safety socialization programs such as education to joint patrols with relevant stakeholders.
"We are conducting socialization to the community, we are raising an appeal in the form of a banner near the toll road, especially for farmer groups who pass, then patrol activities from traffic on toll roads, if there is smoke, we will take concrete steps with stakeholders," he added.

This socialization activity carried out by Pupuk Indonesia with Jasa Raharja was enthusiastically welcomed by Jebed Village farmers, one of whom was Ida Rupiah. He said that post-harvest straw burning is a hereditary habit.
"We are grateful that this socialization activity was held, because this burning is still a lot because it is like a culture from year to year. With this socialization activity, it is hoped that farmers will be more aware that burning straw will have an impact on traffic safety, especially those on toll roads," said Ida.
