Bareskrim Tahan Panji Gumilang Until August 21
The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police has decided to detain Panji Gumilang, who is a suspect in the alleged blasphemy case. The detention was carried out until August 21.
"He was detained at the Criminal Investigation Unit for 20 days until August 21, 2023," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, to reporters, Wednesday, August 2.
Based on the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), investigators have subjective reasons in detaining the suspect, namely a situation that raises concerns that the suspect will run away, lose evidence, and repeat his criminal acts.
Panji Gumilang has been officially detained since early this morning. To be precise, when investigators temporarily postponed the investigation process as a suspect.
"After conducting an examination, investigators made legal efforts in the form of detention since 02.00 WIB on August 2", said Ramadhan.
Panji Gumilang is considered to have committed blasphemy so that he was named a suspect. One form of blasphemy by calling the Qur'an an essay by the Prophet Muhammad.

In this case, Panji Gumilang is suspected of having multiple articles. First, Article 14 Paragraph 1 of Law number 1 of 1946 concerning criminal law regulations which carries a penalty of 10 years in prison.
Then, Article 45A paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 28 paragraph 2 of Law no. 19 of 2016 concerning amendments and Law number 11 of 2008 concerning ITE with a threat of 6 years in prison.
Finally, Panji Gumilang was also charged with Article 156 A of the Criminal Code. In this article, the penalty is 5 years in prison.
