Claiming To Be An ASN From The Ministry Of Law And Human Rights, A 43-year-old Man Steals A Motorbike For The Cost Of His Mother's Treatment, But Has Acted 5 Times

JAKARTA Claiming to be a State Civil Apparatus (ASN) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham), a man with the initials YEP (43) in Tangerang stole Supriyanto's motorbike (44), a cake trader. Cilincing police chief, Kompol Haris Akhmat Basuki said the perpetrators were desperate to carry out the action because they needed money for the medical expenses of their parents who were sick.

The victim is a pancong cake trader. This is somewhat interesting, somewhat sensitive. Because (the perpetrator admitted) ASN," Haris told reporters, Tuesday, August 1.

Haris said that YEP carried out its action at Jongkok Market, Semper Timur, Cilincing, North Jakarta, last July 21, at around 06.20 WIB. Even the theft was viral on social media, because it was caught on CCTV cameras.

The police, who received the information, immediately conducted an investigation and examined witnesses at the scene.

"We are conducting an in-depth investigation from the TKP (the crime scene) providing information that they know the perpetrator who is being monitored by the CCTV. Then we carry out further investigations and developments, the perpetrator was found," he said.

Until finally YEP was arrested and an examination was carried out, from there it was discovered that the perpetrator needed money for treatment for his parents who were sick.

However, continued Haris, the perpetrators had stolen motorbikes 5 times in different locations.

"Sudah melakukan tindak pidana pencurian ini sebanyak lima kali dengan TKP berbeda dan durasi waktu yang berbeda. Kita lakukan pengembangan lebih lanjut ditemukan satu unit kendaraan roda dua yang diamankan di kantor tempat tersangka bekerja," katanya lagi.

Haris still explained that the perpetrators in action always used sarongs to cover their identity. In addition, the perpetrators also targeted the motorcycle keys that were left behind for their vehicles. "The use of the sarong is to cover the identity. (The action) is all in a state of key attached to the key hole so that there are no traces of damage or other signs of violence such as the use of a T key or being forcibly broken," he said.

Even though they have stolen five motorbikes, YEP has not had time to sell the stolen goods. This is because the perpetrator will only sell them after reaching their target.

"It will be purely sold. So the five vehicles are still being collected," said Haris.

The perpetrator is charged with Article 362 of the Criminal Code with a maximum imprisonment of 5 years
