Former President Director Of Jasindo Sentenced To 5 Years In Prison And A Fine Of IDR 1 Billion Related To Gratification And Money Laundering
JAKARTA - President Director of PT Asuransi Jasindo for the period May 2011 –September 2016 and Director of Marketing for Corporate Jasindo for the term of January 2008 – April 2011 Budi Tjahjono were sentenced to five years in prison and a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to four months in prison."The defendant, Budi Tjahjono, was sentenced to five years in prison and a fine of Rp. 1 billion. With the provision that if the fine is not paid, it will be replaced with imprisonment for four months," said Chief Justice Rianto Adam Pontoh during a trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Antara, Thursday, July 27.The panel of judges said Budi Tjahjono was legally and convincingly proven according to law, jointly committing corruption and money laundering."As in the first and second cumulative indictments, the public prosecutor," said Pontoh.Budi was also sentenced to pay compensation of Rp. 50,431,743,437 minus the refund from Tisna Palwani of Rp. 750 million; purchase of eight assets in the form of apartments, land, and buildings worth Rp. 16.758 billion; as well as payment for architect services and house construction in the Melawai area, South Jakarta amounting to Rp. 5,235 billion."So that the replacement money charged to the defendant amounted to Rp27,688,487,437. The longest is within one month after the court's decision has permanent legal force," said Pontoh.If the replacement money is not paid, continued Pontoh, then Budi Tjahjono's property will be confiscated by the prosecutor and auctioned off to cover the replacement money."With the provision that if the convict does not have sufficient property, he will be sentenced to one year in prison," said Pontoh.Upon the verdict, Budi Tjahjono immediately stated that he would file an appeal."Thank you Your Majesty, we have heard, we will appeal because we think we have worked for 40 years, my income is not only that," said Budi.The verdict is lighter than the demands of the public prosecutor (JPU). Finance Director of PT Asuransi Jasindo for the period January 2008 –September 2016 Solihah was sentenced to four years in prison plus a fine of Rp. 300 million, subsidiary to three months.Then, the President Director of PT Ayodya Multi Sarana and PT Altona Kiagus Emil Fahmy Cornain were also sentenced to four years in prison and a fine of Rp. 300 million, subsidiary to three months.
To note, Budi Tjahjono is a convict in a fictitious premium corruption case who was sentenced to seven years in prison in 2019, while Solihah and Kiagus Emil Fahmy Cornain are also serving a four-year prison sentence since 2022.
