Central Java Police said 11 members of the Banyumas Police were prosecuted for violations in the death of one of the detainees with the initials OK (26) some time ago."From the results of the investigation and examination, there were 11 members suspected of committing violations," said Head of Public Relations of the Central Java Police, Kombes Iqbal Alqudusy in a press release in Semarang, Antara, Sunday, July 16.Of the 11 policemen, he said, three of them were suspected of having committed disciplinary violations for being negligent in guarding detainees. Eight other policemen are suspected of committing ethical violations that have the potential to lead to criminal acts."Currently, an investigation has been carried out for a criminal process," he said.Apart from police officers, as many as 10 Banyumas Police detainees were also prosecuted for the death of OK. The detainees are suspected of being involved in the incident that killed the perpetrators of the theft crime. The Central Java Regional Police have formed a special team to handle the case, consisting of the Propam Division and the General Criminal Investigation Directorate.Previously, OK's parents, Jakam (51), together with their legal adviser, Silvia Devi Soembarto, asked the Banyumas Police to conduct an autopsy on OK's body and thoroughly investigate the case that resulted in the detention's death. The request was submitted because when the family opened the cloth, the corpse found many wounds on OK's body, so it was suspected that OK's death was not solely due to kidney failure.
OK was arrested by the police at his home, Purwosari Village, Baturraden District, Banyumas, Tuesday, May 16, for being involved in a motorcycle theft case.OK was then thrown into the Banyumas Police detention cell, Thursday, May 18 evening.
