Died Of Suicide Attempt, This Is The Career Of Singer Mulan Coco Lee
JAKARTA - Hong Kong-born singer Coco Lee, who has had a successful career in Asia, died of suicide at the age of 48.
Coco, who was educated in Hong Kong and the US, gained success in the 90s in Mandopop (Chinese-speaking pop) decrees in Hong Kong before developing into Canton and English.
Coco is also known to work tirelessly to open up a new world for Chinese singers in the international music scene, and she tries her best to shine for China.
She is the voice of the female hero Fa Mulan in the Mandarin version of Mulan Disney, and also sings the Mandarin version of the theme song for the film Reflection.
In 2001 Coco performed A Love Before Time from the film Ang Lee, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon at the Oscars. The Mandarin version of the song earned him an award for the best original film song at the 2001 Hong Kong Film Award.
In his 30 years of music career, Lee recorded 18 studio albums, two live albums, and five compilation albums. He also appeared in the film No Tobacco directed by Stanley Kwan, Master of Everything and Forever Young 2015.
He often appears on Chinese TV shows such as the 2013 version of Chinese Idol and the 2015 version of Dancing with the Stars as a judge or advisor.
In 2011, Coco married Bruce Rockowitz, a Canadian businessman who is the former CEO of supply chain company Hong Kong Li & Fung.

Although she has two step daughters of her marriage to Rockowitz, Lee has no children of his own.
In a post on the official Facebook page of Coco, her two older sisters Carol and Nancy Lee shared that the singer had been battling depression for several years.
"Coco has suffered from depression for several years but his condition has worsened drastically over the past few months," the statement read.
"Although Coco is seeking professional help and is doing her best to fight depression, unfortunately the devil inside takes the better from her," the statement continued.
The brothers said that Coco tried to commit suicide at home over the weekend and was rushed to the hospital. They said she was in a coma and died on Wednesday, July 5.
