Emphasizing Meeting With The Right Government, Prabowo Praises Jokowi: I Am Sure His Commitment To The People

JAKARTA - Gerindra Party Chairman Prabowo Subianto believes President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is committed to fighting for the interests of the Indonesian people.

This was conveyed by Prabowo when giving directions online at the Grand Consolidation of Gerindra Party West Jakarta Management and Cadres at the Kebon Jeruk Stadium Field, Sunday, June 18.

"I believe his (Jokowi) commitment to the interests of the Indonesian people. I believe his commitment to the Indonesian nationality," he said.

Thus, he continued, the Gerindra Party should not hesitate in fighting for the interests of the people.

On the same occasion, Prabowo increasingly believes that his decision to join President Jokowi's government as Minister of Defense is the right decision. The decision was the right step for Prabowo to fight for the interests of the people.

"I have decided to join President Joko Widodo in 2019. Today I am increasingly convinced that my decision is correct and my decision is for the good and interests of all Indonesian people," said Prabowo, confiscated by Antara.

Prabowo alluded to the importance of cadres' courage in fighting for the victory of Gerindra and Prabowo as presidential candidates (candidates) in the 2024 election in order to improve the lives of the Indonesian people.

As regulated in Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections (UU Pemilu), pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total number of seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of valid votes nationally in the previous election for members of the DPR.

Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament so that pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR RI. In addition, candidate pairs can also be promoted by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
