Ahead Of Eid Al-Adha 1444 H, Commodity Prices Rise, Batam City Government Holds Cheap Market
The Batam City Government, Riau Islands held a low-cost market operation ahead of Eid al-Adha 1444 Hijri as an effort to reduce the prices of basic necessities that have now risen.
Head of the Batam City Industry and Trade Office, Gustian Riau, said that several commodities were prioritized in the operation of the cheap market, namely broiler eggs, fresh chicken and frozen chicken.
"We plan to carry out market operations, especially for eggs, live chicken meat, frozen chicken because of the price increases," Gustian said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, June 8.
According to him, the increase in the price of fresh chicken is caused by the rising price of chicken feed.
"Because this is the most dominant egg the same as chicken meat because so far there has been an increase in the feed side," said Gustian.
He said that the operation of the cheap market would be carried out in 6 sub-districts in Batam City starting on June 13-24, 2023.
"The locations are in Bengkong, Sekupang, Sagulung, Batu Ampar, Beduk and Batu Aji sub-districts. Six places where there have been certain obstacles in some commodities," he said.
Gustian said, in the operation of the cheap market there are no restrictions on buying for the public.
"Because to say inflation we must not limit sales from the public," he said.
Previously, the Batam City Government, Riau Islands, continued to improve coordination with food commodity-producing areas to meet the needs of the local community.
