Mekopolhukam Forms A Team To Accelerate Legal Reform To Handle Legal Distribution In Indonesia
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam), Mahfud MD, has formed a Team for the Acceleration of Legal Reform with the aim of fixing various legal problems in Indonesia. The formation of this team was carried out on the orders of President Joko Widodo in response to the incident of arresting Supreme Court justices by the KPK a few months ago.
"The Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs has created a Legal Reform Acceleration Team to fix the chaos of the law," said Mahfud, Saturday, May 27.
In addition to overcoming the rampant land mafia problem, this team also focuses on establishing subtims of the Anti-Mafia Bill. This is done to deal with the threats posed by the mafia which has spread widely and threatens the country's life.
"Through a limited meeting (ratas) the President's cabinet also asked the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs to look for a model of land legal reform considering the rampant land mafia," said Mahfud.
The formation of this team is also in line with efforts to accelerate the eradication of corruption. Mahfud emphasized that this team does not aim to resolve concrete cases that are currently underway, but will be tasked with formulating academic papers and draft legal policies to be submitted to the government that will come after the 2024 election.
"This is because our mafia has grown and threatens the code of state life," he said. "There needs to be a new policy on accelerating the eradication of corruption."
