Defeating Korean Representatives, Gregoria Becomes Indonesia's First Representative To The Quarter-finals Of Malaysia Masters 2023

JAKARTA - Indonesian women's singles, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, managed to step up the round of 16 of the Malaysia Masters 2023. She defeated the representative of South Korea, Sim Yu-jin.

Gregoria's victory made him Indonesia's first representative to advance to the quarter-finals.

Faced with Sim at the Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, May 25 morning WIB, Gregoria confirmed victory in two straight games. It only took 36 minutes to win 21-15 and 21-15.

After defeating the South Korean representative, Gregoria will face the winner of the duel between Line Hojmark vs Wang Zhi Yi. Zhi Yi, who occupies the second seed position, could become a stumbling block.

Gregoria's success in qualifying from the round of 16 is a breath of fresh air for Indonesia. The reason is, two representatives of the Red and White previously lost.

Rehan Naufal/Lisa Ayu fell from representatives of Thailand, Supak Jamkoh/Supissara Paewsampatan in two games with a final score of 17-21 and 15-21.

Meanwhile, the second representative, Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja, also lost to the Chinese representative, Feng Yan Zhe/Huang Dong Ping, who was in fourth seed position.

Luckily, Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari did not follow the steps of the two Indonesian mixed doubles. They won two straight games when they faced sixth seed from the Netherlands, Robin Tabeling/Selena Piek.
