Semanggi Village Service Car Thief Arrested, Evidence Still Wanted By Police

JAKARTA Cases of motor vehicle theft and a number of other valuables at the Karet Semanggi Village office, Setiabudi, South Jakarta, were revealed. Deputy Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Jakarta Metro Police, Kompol Henrikus Yossi explained, the perpetrator with the initials ATT carried out his action on Sunday, May 7, at 05.30 WIB.

"The theft case is at the Karet Semanggi Village Office. The loss of 2 cellphones, 1 motorbike belonging to the village staff, and 1 unit of official car belonging to the DKI Provincial Government which at the time of the incident became an inventory of the village office," Yossi told reporters at the South Jakarta Metro Police, Monday, May 22.

Yossi explained that the perpetrator carried out the theft with his colleague. They share a role to smooth the action.

At that time, said Yossi, conditions in the village at that time were still quite quiet because holidays and incidents occurred at 05.30 WIB.

Furthermore, ATT broke the key to the motorbike belonging to the village staff with the letter T key and took the motorbike away.

"The perpetrator entered the rest room, at which time the staff were still resting, took 2 cellphones and car keys, the suspect then went out while and took the car belonging to the kelurahan," he said.

After the incident, the victim made a police report. The police who received the information immediately moved and arrested the perpetrator.

"We secure it in the Duren Sawit area, he is looking for the target randomly and can be at the village office. The motive is for his economic benefit," he said.

Yossi added, from the results of the disclosure, his party secured evidence in the form of 1 unit of Nmax motorcycle and 1 cellphone. However, for one unit of official car that was successfully initiated by other perpetrators, further searches were still being carried out.

"We are still investigating the car further and in the future we will reveal it," he said

ATT was charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code with a threat of 7 years in prison.
