The Excitement Of Reading Experience In Taman Baca Meleg Depok, Has A Collection Of Thousands Of Books
JAKARTA - Reading books can increase children's literacy skills. To increase reading preferences, Telkom Regional II (Jabotabek and Banten) held a program with the theme Donation 1000 Children's Books for Meleg Read Park.
Melege's reading garden, located in Kelapa Dua, Depok, was built in mid-2019 by a group of students in the Depok area. At first, the location was a waste disposal area that did not get attention, but finally with good intentions to build the nation's children, Taman Baca Melego was founded and has developed quite well so far.
Ahmad Zaohudin, as initiator of Taman Baca Meleg, was determined to clear the land and make it a proper gathering place for children in the surrounding area. After the process of cleaning the location which took approximately 8 months, the student association began to open book donations, stationery and toys for children who would be placed in Taman Baca Meleg.
Telkom provides book donations as part of the charity program which is carried out as a form of IndiHome's contribution to the community, especially the generation of children.
Book donations were collected through donation boxes spread over 10 location points, namely the Telkom Banten, Bekasi, Bogor, West Jakarta, Central Jakarta, South Jakarta, East Jakarta, North Jakarta, Tangerang, and Lobby Graha Merah Putih, The Telkom Hub Tower.
In addition to donations in the form of children's special reading books, assistance was also provided in the form of funds for repairing reading room facilities worth 20 million Rupiah from Telkom Regional II which will be given to Taman Baca Meleg, in Depok Region, West Java. Funds for repairing reading room facilities were collected through the myIndiHome point exchange listed on the customer's myindiHome application. One-time myIndiHome point exchange will be worth 500 points, with a conversion of IDR 5,000. Both the 1000 book donation program and the repair of this facility will take place from early April to mid-June 2023.
