Coldplay Concert Promoters Prefer GBK Instead Of JIS, PDIP: Jakpro Opportunity For Evaluation

PDIP commented on the selection of the Coldplay concert location at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), South Jakarta in November, while on the other hand there is a stadium that is predicted to be used as a venue for international music concerts, namely the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS).

The chairman of the PDIP faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Gembong Warsono, assessed that it was natural for GBK to be the choice of a promoter to hold a band concert from London rather than JIS. This is because the stadium, which was built in the Anies Baswedan era as the Governor of DKI, was considered a Gembong, less profitable.

"If this is a business matter, yes. This means that the promoter talks profit and loss. Maybe GBK is much more attractive and sells than JIS," said Gembong when contacted, Thursday, May 11.

Perhaps, continued Gembong, the absence of JIS to be the location of the Coldplay verkaca concert from the Dewa 19 concert, which was widely complained about by the audience some time ago. The majority of people complained about the difficulty of accessing mobility in the area.

"There are many problems with Dewa. Maybe the organizer's analysis is from that side," said Gembong.

On that basis, Gembong asked the BUMD PT Jakarta Propertido (Jakpro) as the manager of JIS to improve various facilities in the international-class stadium in North Jakarta.

"This is Jakpro's opportunity to be able to evaluate and improve. Why is this (the Coldplay concert) not in my place (JIS). Jakpro must also open up so that the magnificent-looking building can be maximized optimally and in the end it does not undermine Jakpro's own finances," he added.

Coldplay announced their return to Asia and Australia with a dedicated show set to take place at the stadium in November 2023, as part of the record-breaking Music Of The Spheres World Tour.

The announcement is also a sign that the band will hold its first performance in Jakarta, which will be held on November 15 at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.

Since the first date of the tour in March 2022, the band has sold more tickets than any other artist in the world, received a warm welcome from fans and also critics and won the 2022 AMA 'Favorite Touring Artist' award and 'Toour of The Year' at the iHeartRadio 2023 Award.

This month also replayed Tokyo's first Coldplay show since 2017, and is Coldplay's first show in Kaohsiung as well as Jakarta, and the band is back in Perth after its final show in 2009.

Tickets for Coldplay Music of the Spheres World Tour Jakarta will go on sale Thursday, May 19, 2023 starting at 10.00 WIB exclusively at www.coldplaytipaarta.com.
