Elon Musk: Twitter Will Remove Inactive Accounts In Several Years

JAKARTA - Twitter CEO Elon Musk said in a tweet on Monday 8 May that Twitter Inc's social media platform would delete accounts that had been inactive for several years. Musk added that users on the micro-blogging platform could see a decrease in the number of followers.

According to Twitter policy, users must log into their account at least once a day to avoid permanent deletion of accounts for being inactive for a long time.

We're retired accounts that have had no activity at all for several years, so you will probably see followers count drop

Last month, Twitter removed heritage verification blue ticks from profiles of thousands of people, including celebrities, journalists, and leading politicians. Musk has made account verification part of a Blue Twitter subscription, a move he says will deal with the problem of bot accounts on the social media platform.

Earlier this month, Musk "threatened" to re-establish his National Public Radio Twitter account to another company, after a public broadcaster stopped posting content to his 52 official Twitter feeds in protest against a Twitter label that implied the government's involvement in its editorial content.
