Kulon Progo Regency Government Asks Government For Help In Repairing Glagah Bridge
The Kulon Progo Regency Government, Special Region of Yogyakarta, has sent a letter of application to the central government to accelerate the repair of the Glagah Bridge in Karangwuni Village, whose foundation has collapsed and cannot be passed by vehicles.
Head of the Kulon Progo Public Works, Housing and Settlement Area, Gusdi Hartono, said that the completion of the Glagah Bridge or bridge on the Kremang-Congot road section seemed long because when there was a landslide on September 25, 2022, the road was in the process of transitioning from provincial road to national road.
"Currently it has been marked as a national road since April 28, 2023. When there was a landslide, we immediately coordinated with the provincial government. Because in terms of function as a national strategic road, we continued to go to the field to secure and close the bridge," said Gusdi as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, May 8.
However, continued Gusdi, it is impossible for the DIY Regional Government to budget for handling bridges because they will enter the national bridge. That way it is impossible to budget through the provincial budget.
In December 2022, the release of assets from provincial roads became a national road. This means that the proposal and coordination of the Kulon Progo DPUP has been changed to the National Road Manager (PJN). After December 2022, PJN proposed that the handling of the Glagah Bridge be carried out in 2023. The handling is not for development.
Currently, the handling of the Glagah Bridge is still a proposal for handling. So it is still in the pick mark. From PJN informed that the handling proposal is still waiting from the Ministry of Finance.

Representative of the community in the Karangwuni Karwa Bridge area, Aziz Purwanto, hopes that the Glagah Bridge will be repaired soon in order to stimulate the community's economy.
After the Yogyakarta International Airport, the economy of the people in Karangwuni was stretched. But unlucky, the Glagah Bridge is damaged and cannot be passed by four-wheeled vehicles. This kills the community's economy, especially small and medium-sized business actors.
"Until now, it is not yet years when the bridge will be repaired. We hope that the bridge will be repaired soon. When the bridge can still be passed by vehicles, SMEs grow rapidly, now it is out of business," he said.
