Irma Lina Habibah, Millennials In A Political World That Fights For Women's And Minority Rights
JAKARTA - Young people in the world of politics have a crucial role. The existence of young people or millennials is considered to have open thinking and has many innovations that are unlimited. His thoughts resulted in new breakthroughs that could provide progress for social and state life.
In practical politics and ethical politics, the millennial generation has shown various roles and contributions. They have also begun to get involved in politics. In fact, in 2019 it was known that 52 legislative candidates were elected at the central, provincial and district/city levels from millennials.
The role of millennials in politics does have an important role. This is because young people or millennials can fight for more inclusive and diverse political participation, by fighting for the same rights for all groups and fighting for better representations in the political process.
This will help strengthen the democratic system and ensure that the interests of the entire community are represented in making political decisions. This is with the opinion of Irma Lina Habibah SH,MH regarding the role of young people in politics.
"Millennial Generations can channel the rights of the people who are still hidden and have not been realized," said Puteri Indonesia Persahabatan DIY 2019, who is also a GMNI activist, quoted Tuesday, April 18.
The millennial generation can fight for people's rights that have not been realized in various fields, such as workers' rights, women's rights, ethnic and religious minority rights, environmental rights, and economic rights. In fighting for the rights of these people, the millennial generation can act as driving positive changes in society and politics.
"Strengthening women's rights and gender equality rights where women's rights must be the same as men in terms of work is important considering that there are still many gaps between the fulfillment of women's and men's rights that are not yet equal," said Irma, who is also one of the millennials who took part in the political path to represent his area in Boyolali.
This is in line with a statement from the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenppa) which also revealed that there is still a gender gap in the world of work. There is a segmentation of gender in the practice of job admission, labor force and also the promotion of employees who are discriminatory to gender, so that women are concentrated in small amounts in the economic sector.
