TikTok Quietly Presents Animated Video Sticker Feature In DMs

JAKARTA - TikTok has quietly launched an animated video sticker for its direct messages (DM). This feature as a new way to exchange messages becomes more interesting and fun.

The animated video stickers are quite different from the usual ones, in that they are basically similar to GIFs and are an extension of the Sticker feature of TikTok that was launched last December.

Users can choose popular video stickers provided by TikTok or they can also create their own custom stickers.

To create a new sticker, select the Create sticker option in the DM. Users can select videos from their content or content posted by others.

Then once the video is selected, the user can use the video-scrubbing thumbnails to choose how many videos they want to be part of the video sticker.

There are also options to add text to video stickers or crop content. Once done, users can choose to save the video sticker to their personal sticker library where they can find it again in the DM's favorites tab to send to friends at any time.

If users want to allow others to use their stickers, they can add custom stickers to the TikTok store.

TikTok says it only shows videos with sticker permission, meaning users don't have to worry about video abuse without the creator's consent.

Creators can choose not to allow others to create video stickers based on their videos by changing their privacy settings, as quoted by TechCrunch, Wednesday, April 12.

Previously, TikTok started allowing users to create and upload stickers that can be used in DMs. The launch of the video sticker came when TikTok recently changed its DM settings.

Where earlier in the year, the company also quietly gave users the choice of who they want to receive messages from, be it everyone, suggested friends, shared followers, people they've messaged, or no one.
