JAKARTA - The government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) encourages the conversion program of electric motorcycles by widening the criteria for recipients from individuals to agencies.

Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Dadan Kusdiana said that his ministry is currently making revisions to the Ministerial Regulation that has been previously signed.

"Now we are revising the Permen. Now it is limited to individuals even though there are many motorbikes owned by agencies and companies. This is what we will open," Dadan told the media quoted Monday, October 16.

Dadan hopes that with the addition of these criteria, companies and agencies can encourage the use of conversion motors.

When asked about the additional incentive value, Dadan said that until now the government has not planned to increase the amount of incentives given, namely Rp. 7 million per conversion motorbike.

"As of now, it is still at that point even though it has been proposed," said Dadan.

Dadan hopes that the number of conversion motors will continue to increase so that the target of 50,000 conversion motors by the end of the year can be realized.

"Now we are door to door to the company," concluded Dadan.

Previously, ESDM Minister Arifin Tasrif said Indonesia needed to convert electric motorcycles, considering its very large population, reaching 120 million units throughout Indonesia.

"Indonesia needs to convert this, we at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the Ministry of Transportation focus on two-wheeled burning motorcycles whose population is more than 120 million more with a growth trend showing 5-6 percent every year," he said at the Office of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Friday, July 28.

Arifin revealed that every one liter of fuel is equivalent by burning 500,000 barrels of crude oil.
