The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Directorate General of Housing has completed the construction of a number of special houses for people affected by the earthquake in Cianjur, West Java, in 2022.

The Director General of Housing at the Ministry of PUPR, Iwan Suprijanto, said that his party is trying to deal with post-disaster natural disasters quickly and appropriately by involving various related parties.

This is necessary so that the affected people can immediately move and not stay in temporary housing for too long.

"The construction of this special post-disaster house is a quick step for the government to help the community so that they can immediately live in decent housing. We hope that people who are relocated can take care of various existing facilities and live in their homes, and rise to improve the economy with their families," said Iwan in a written statement, Thursday, October 12.

People affected by the Cianjur earthquake that was relocated from the red zone were happy to be able to move to housing built by the Ministry of PUPR.

They assessed that the special houses built in Vila Mande Lestari Housing and Bumi Sirnawih Damai Housing have good quality and complete public facilities so they can live comfortably with their families.

One of the residents living in the Vila Mande Lestari Housing, Bambang Bayu Saketi (60) stated that he and his family now feel calm because they can occupy a special house that has been built.

According to him, the house that was built behind the Mande District Office has good quality and complete facilities.

"Alhamdulillah, we can move to this house. The house is better than our previous house and the facilities are also complete, there are mosques, community halls and neat neighborhood roads so that we can live comfortably," he said.

Bambang admitted that previously he had lived in temporary shelters in Cugenang District, which was the location of the earthquake fault so that his house was destroyed and could not be inhabited again.

"After being recorded by the Cianjur Regency Government and waiting a few months for the completion of the house construction, finally we can now move here. Thank you Mr. President Jokowi and the Ministry of PUPR who moved quickly to help us to be able to bounce back after the earthquake," he said.

The same thing was also conveyed by Ahmad Dedi Mustofa (57), a resident who was relocated to Bumi Sirnagih Damai Housing in Cilaku District.

Ahmad has now moved to the housing complex and can enjoy normal life as usual by working as a farmer.

"Frankly, we are more comfortable to relocate to BSD Housing because the location is also quite crowded and not far from the city center. Around this housing there are also many educational facilities so that children can change schools to new places," he said.

Meanwhile, another resident named Doni said that the social and economic life of the residents in BSD Housing was also starting to stretch.

Many residents open grocery stalls and other businesses to increase their daily income.

"I opened a snack food and water stall in packaging in this housing. Alhamdulillah, it's quite selling well because many children and families are shopping," he added.
