Artificial Intelligence Becomes A Tough Challenge For The Young Generation, Erick: 85 Million Jobs Will Be Lost

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir said the younger generation has a tough challenge in facing the future.

The reason, said Erick, is that 85 million jobs will disappear along with the supply of digitalization developments.

"The world economy data states that 85 million jobs have been lost compared to 67 million that have grown," he said at the IAPPI event at the Smesco Building, Jakarta, Thursday, October 12.

With the rapid development of digitalization, continued Erick, the presence of artificial intelligence (AI) is also a challenge that must be overcome by the younger generation.

"If we look ahead, there will not be any change, which is called a change in Al's digitization," he said.

Therefore, Erick said the younger generation also needs to have careful future planning to help boost the Indonesian economy.

Erick also asked foreign graduates to return to Indonesia to help make Indonesia a developed country in 2045.

"I challenge which Indonesian blueprint 2045 from the perspective of you (young people), not from the government's perspective but from your perspective as future Indonesian figures," said Erick.
