MHU Wins ASEAN Coal Awards 2023 in Large Scale Coal Mining Category

JAKARTA - PT Multi Harapan Utama (MHU) as part of the MMS Group Indonesia has again made a proud record by winning the ASEAN Coal Award 2023 which was given at the Awarding Ceremony at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Centre.

The ASEAN Coal Awards are organized by the ASEAN Center for Energy (ACE) as a commitment from countries in the ASEAN region in campaigning for environmentally friendly coal mining. This event is held regularly every two years where this year's event was held in Indonesia.

At this event, MHU won the 1st Runner Up title for the category of large-scale coal mining. MHU demonstrated good mining governance practices through a proposal entitled: "Towards Sustainability and Resiliency through Good Mining Practice."

MHU's Head of Mining Engineering, Aris Subagyo, when receiving the award said that this achievement was a historical record for MHU.

"This is the first time we have won an award at the ASEAN Coal Award. Hopefully this will become a positive foundation so that we can continue to run good mining operations with a spirit of sustainability," said Aris, in his statement, Wednesday 30 August.

According to Aris, the challenges of coal mining companies with various issues must be answered by all relevant parties through proof of good operating practices and always paying attention to environmental protection.

"So that the operational excellence carried out by the company can go hand in hand with a positive impact on the environment and the surrounding community," Aris added.

Adri Martowardojo, as the representative of the MMS Group Indonesia, also expressed his pride in MHU's achievements.

"This award is a big milestone for MHU and MMS Group Indonesia, this achievement must be continuously improved by continuously implementing the best Good Mining Practices," he explained.

The 2023 ASEAN Coal Award event is taking place in conjunction with the 41st ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM) and the 2023 ASEAN Energy Business Forum (AEBF). It is hoped that the implementation of these agendas will create equal space and opportunities among countries. in the ASEAN region to be able to work hand in hand to enhance cooperation.
