JAKARTA - The social-invest tech application Cuanz presents a special Virtual Trading feature for students as a strategy to invite more young people to enter the Indonesian stock market.

In collaboration with Sucor Sekuritas, the feature that has been running for several months aims to educate university students financial literacy and risk management, in the form of a Virtual Stock Trading competition.

Virtual Trading Cuanz displays real stock figures and value in the IDX Composite Stock Index, but uses virtual money so that students can learn stock investment techniques without risk of loss.

Beginner investors can take advantage of this feature to learn the movements of the stock market, train making decisions based on data analysis, and be motivated to build a career in the financial industry in the future.

The Virtual Trading feature is one of Cuanz's efforts to support the government's target to increase financial inclusion in Indonesia to 90 percent by 2024, from 81.4 percent in 2020.

The younger generation has spearheaded investment growth in Indonesia, where according to data from the Central Securities of Indonesia (KSEI), the number of capital market investors in Indonesia as of April 2023 has reached 10.88 million, and 58 percent of them are young investors under the age of 30.

"We want to remove the stigma that investing in notabene stocks is difficult or complicated. On the other hand, we want to make investment more fun and popular with young people, because investment is one of the financial strategies to prepare for the future," said Cuanz Co-founder and COO Marcella Einsteins in a press statement, quoted from Antara, Saturday 5 August.

Cuanz, said Marcella, is collaborating with Sucor Sekuritas, which has a harmonious vision of increasing investment literacy for young people throughout Indonesia. Through the virtual trading feature, Cuanz provides a forum for young investors to learn to build portfolios with safer simulations.

Bernadus Wijaya, CEO of Sucor Sekuritas, revealed that virtual trading allows all participants to feel the atmosphere of the stock transaction as it is. "We hope this experience can provide education and increase the interest of the younger generation to have a career in the capital market sector."

In the Virtual Trading Cuanz competition, participants will be given initial capital in the form of virtual money in the amount of Rp. 100 million, which can be used to build portfolios and develop asset value.

Participants who get the highest investment returns will be named winners, and get prizes worth IDR 10 million in the form of capital to invest in shares in real terms.

After going through a strict stage, Tamara Angelsky from the Medan State University managed to become the first winner in this competition.

Currently, Cuanz continues to intensify discussions and cooperation with various institutions, both in the education sector, investment, and certification institutions, so that investment education, especially in the capital market, can become more quality, easily accessible, and minimal risk.
