JAKARTA - Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok is said to be the President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) replacing Nicke Widyawati. Meanwhile, Ahok currently serves as the President Commissioner of the state-owned company.

Responding to this, Member of Commission VII DPR Mulyanto assessed that Ahok was not suitable for the position of number one person in the company. Because Ahok's performance has been mediocre.

During his tenure as President Commissioner, continued Mulyanto, there was no striking breakthrough. In fact, he said, the President Commissioner was tasked with supervising the company and also as the chairman of the risk committee.

"But the fact is that many refineries burned for almost once every 3-4 months. Not a lot of work, Ahok even made a lot of controversial statements. This is not good for any business," he said in an official statement, quoted Monday, July 24.

Mulyanto also admitted that he was not sure that the government, in this case the Minister of SOEs, Erick Thohir, would appoint Ahok as President Director of Pertamina. He assessed that the government would definitely take into account the impact if Ahok was appointed as President Director of Pertamina this political year.

In addition, Mulyanto assessed that the news that Ahok would be appointed as the Managing Director of Pertamina was limited to discourse and political gossip. Even if there is an effort to realize the news, it is only a trial or test the water.

Furthermore, Mulyanto said that if the public did not react too much, the appointment process would continue. But if you get a refusal, it will be terminated or diverted.

"I don't think the government will set that up. This is just an issue," he said.

"The figure of the president director needed is like this nickel mother, smart, professional and experienced, so that Pertamina can oversee national energy security and become a top company. Moreover, on the upstream side of Pertamina's oil, the majority is dominant," he continued.
