Ensure Tesla Invests In RI, Coordinating Minister For Maritime Affairs Will Visit Elon Musk In August

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan will visit Tesla CEO Elon Musk in early August 2023. This is to finalize the investment plan for the electric car manufacturer in Indonesia. This was conveyed by Luhut following the presence of Tesla in Malaysia through the head office and service center in neighboring countries. "There is no Tesla (in Malaysia). I want to meet Elon later on the 2nd of next month. Yes, we want to finalize (Tesla investment in Indonesia)," Luhut said quoting Antara.

Tesla itself has launched a super-fast indoor charging station in a local shopping center in Malaysia. The American electric car manufacturer also opened Tesla Model Y and Model 3 online orders in Malaysia.

In addition, Tesla will open the headquarters and the Tesla Experience and Service Center as part of Malaysia's Global Leaders BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) initiative.

Although several countries have been overtaken, including India and Malaysia, the Indonesian government emphasized that negotiations with Tesla are still ongoing. The progress of the negotiations itself is locked in a confidentiality agreement (NDA).Tesla itself is interested in investing in Indonesia. Likewise with Indonesia which also welcomes the plan to invest electric vehicles from Tesla in the country. Moreover, the Indonesian government has provided incentives for the purchase of electric vehicles.
