JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Directorate General of Human Settlements will continue the Borobudur Phase 2 National Tourism Strategic Area (KSPN) structuring project in Central Java.

The arrangement of the Borobudur KSPN Phase 1 itself has begun in October 2020 and is completed in December 2021.

The arrangement aims to preserve the Borobudur area as a world cultural heritage site (World Heritage Site) and develop the Borobudur area as a world-class tourism destination.

Head of the Central Java Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW) Kuswara said the arrangement of KSPN Borobudur Phase 2 would be carried out in 2023-2024.

The plan to organize the Borobudur KSPN Phase 2 in 2023-2024 includes the construction of the Cultural Action Line: Mendut-Pawon-Borobudur (boardwalk on the edge of the Progo River), the construction of the Borobudur Art Village and Museum in Kujon, as well as the construction of the Kujon sports field.

For the plan to build the Borobudur Art Village in Kujon, it covers an area of 10.74 ha, with a scope of cinderamata, culinary arts market development activities, vehicle parking and point access (shuttle), creative space, art craft training centers, cultural arts, parking, shuttle service/wira-wiri, rest room, prayer room, and landscape parks.

Previously, the scope of KSPN Borobudur Phase 1 structuring activities included the construction of a regional marker gate, namely the Palbapang Gate (pillar gate), Bolindo Gate (kalparu gate), Kembanglimus Community Center, Klangon Gate (Raksa village).

Next, the construction of Concourse and Plaza Borobudur, and the construction of access areas of culture and environmental roads in Bojong and Wanurejo.

The construction of the KSPN Borobudur SPAM has a capacity of 100 liters per second to meet the drinking water needs of the community around the Borobudur KSPN area.
