YOGYAKARTA - The DIY Provincial Tourism Office revealed that the construction of the Southern Cross Road (JJLS) brings positive benefits to Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region (DI).

Head of the Tourism Destination Development Division of the Bantul Regency Tourism Office, Yuli Hernadi, revealed that until June 2023, his party noted that 1.3 million tourists visited tourist attractions in Bantul Regency such as Parangtritis.

"In 2019, before the pandemic, there were 2.7 million people with an income of Rp27 billion, yesterday until June there were 1.3 million visitors with an income of Rp13 billion," said Yuli in Bantul, Thursday, July 7.

Yuli added, with the entry of tourists, it can bring in multiplayers effect such as the growth of MSMEs around tourist attractions that are crowded with residents.

He said, with the construction of the Pansela route and the Kretek II Bridge, it benefits tourists because they do not have to go around the Yogyakarta area to enter Bantul because the East and West areas of the Opak River are already connected to the bridge.

"When the bridge is connected, tourists are lucky because they enter Parangtritis and can reach Pandansimo, and vice versa," added Yuli.

Meanwhile, the Daily Executive (Plh) of the Head of the DIY Tourism Office, Kurniawan revealed that based on a study conducted by the tourism office, the construction of JJLS boosted Bantul's Regional Original Revenue (PAD) in the tourism sector, which previously amounted to 3 to 7 percent of total revenue to 4 to 12 percent.

"We have done a study, more on the benefits of macroeconomics. Since JJLS, PAD has become 4 to 12 percent," he said.
