Ministry Of PUPR Increases Connectivity Of 18 3T Regional Islands

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Directorate General of Highways increases the connectivity of 18 islands belonging to the 3T area (outermost, remote, and underdeveloped).

"Form road infrastructure support on 18 3T regional islands, not immediately carried out in the form of island/island transportation ring roads, but through access roads," said Director General of Highways Hedy Rahadian in a statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, June 13.

Of the 18 3T Islands, there are 16 islands that have been supported by the existing national road network and 2 islands (Enggano Island and Kei Besar Island/Nuhu Yut Island) have not been passed by national roads.

Road construction to improve connectivity in the 18 outer islands, in accordance with Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 18 of 2020 concerning the 2020-2024 National Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMN) which stipulates that there are 18 Outermost, Remote, and Disadvantaged Islands (3T).

Starting from Aceh Province, there is Simeme Island which has a national road of 76.39 km with a total asphalt condition and an applied level of 99.74 percent. The national road network on Simeulue Island connects the capital city of Sinabang with Lasikin Airport to Nasreuheu.

In North Sumatra, there are two outer islands that are handled, namely Nias Island and Mentawai Island. The national road network on Nias Island along 171.33 km connects PKW Gunung Sitoli with Gunung Sitoli Port, Binaka Airport, and the Teluk Dalam Nias National Tourism Strategic Area (KSPN).

Meanwhile in the Mentawai Islands, the target until 2024 is gradual development to connect Muara Siberut with KSPN Siberut and Sikabaluan Port (east pass of Siberut Island) along 23.09 km.

Furthermore, on Enggano Island, Bengkulu, in 2023 the construction of Jalan Banjar Sari - Malakoni - Kayu Apuh 5.64 km. Meanwhile, on Natuna Island, Riau Islands in 2023, the construction of 26.82 km of roads and bridges is programmed.

On Sumba Island, NTT, the national road network is a trans island that connects the districts on Sumba Island for 300.57 km and in 2023 22.71 km of road maintenance will be carried out.

In Southeast Sulawesi Province, there are two outer islands handled, namely Muna Island and Buton.

On Muna Island, the national road network reaches about 83 km with an occupancy rate of 97.36 percent and in 2023 maintenance will be carried out along 3 km.

Meanwhile, on Buton Island, the national road network is about 307 km and in 2023 maintenance will be carried out along 20 km.

Meanwhile, in Maluku Province, there are 8 outer islands handled, namely Aru, Babar, Buru, Seram, Kei Besar, Selaru, Moa, and Wetar islands.

In each of these islands, road and bridge maintenance is carried out according to the needs and real conditions of the field. In 2023, a 4.56 km long road section was built, namely Jalan Simpang Holat-Ohoiraut (4.5 km) and the 60 meter Elat-Simpang Ngurdu-Ohoiraut Bridge.

In North Maluku Province, namely on Morotai Island, there is a national road network of 185.68 km and there is the construction of the Ake Tiabo Bridge 30 meters in 2023.

Finally, in Papua Province, namely on Biak Island, the national road connects Biak Airport, Frans Kieppo Airport, Biak Sea Port and Biak KSPN along 75 km and in 2023 there will be construction of a 6 km Biak Ring Road.
