The Directorate General of Sea Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) conveyed the development of the Indonesian Integrated Monitoring System on Navigation (I-Motion) system at the 23rd Asia Pacific Heads of Maritime Safety Agents (Aphombsa) annual meeting.
At the meeting held in Sydney, Australia, the Indonesian delegation also presented a paper for shipping safety.
Kasubdit Perambuan dan Perbenkelan Direktorat Kenavigasian Yudhonur Setyaji menjelaskan, I-Motion merupakan sistem yang dibangun oleh Direktorat Jenderal Perhubungan Laut cq. Direktorat Kenavigasian, yang mengintegrasikan data dari Vessel traffic services (VTS) dan stasiun radio pantai (SROP) berupa automatic identification system (AIS) base station, radar, voice, CCTV secara terrestrial system dengan data AIS melalui layanan satelitasi.
"The Directorate General of Sea Transportation as the Maritime Authority of Indonesia has the task and function of creating shipping safety and security as well as protecting the maritime environment, especially in the Asia Pacific region as a member of the Aphomsa. For this reason, at this meeting we conveyed the development of the I-Motion that we have carried out as a form of our commitment to carrying out our duties and functions," said Yudho, quoted from Antara, Sunday, June 11.
I-Motion, he said, can be used to monitor ship traffic in real time and historically, improve shipping navigation safety and efficiency while supporting maritime environmental protection services.
In addition to real-time monitoring, Yudho said I-Motion also has several other features, including density maps, data exploration, detailed ship and shipping information, weather information support, CCTV surveillance and VHF radio communications flow, and sea traffic analysis and user management.
According to Yudho, in addition to supporting the implementation of tasks and functions in monitoring shipping traffic in Indonesian waters in realizing shipping safety and maritime environmental protection, I-Motion can also be utilized and can synergize with systems owned by other ministries/agencies.
The Directorate General of Sea Transportation has also communicated and consulted with relevant stakeholders and agencies through the implementation of workshops.
This is done in addition to providing the latest information on I-Motion so that the development of the system can comply with cybersecurity standards, as well as to raise awareness of the safety of shipping navigation.
"For this reason, on this occasion we explained about the development of the I-Motion system at the Aphomsa meeting to get input and comments from members, as well as to open opportunities for collaboration between other member countries and Indonesia in terms of I-Motion development," he said.
Aphomsa is a cooperation forum related to shipping safety and security as well as maritime environmental protection in the Asia Pacific region to identify and coordinate international cooperation and technical efforts.
The forum, which has been held since 1996, discussed issues related to maritime environmental protection, safety and shipping security including the welfare of sailors, responses to accidents at sea, regional cooperation, and other related maritime issues.
