JAKARTA - The leading agri-food industrial company, JAPFA Group, exports its first by sea to Singapore.

Through a subsidiary of PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Tbk, PT Ciomas Aditsatwa managed to distribute 23,000 live chickens from cultivation in the local market. This export is an important milestone for new delivery options to supply fresh chickens to Singapore, by sending live chickens by sea and cutting them in the destination country.

JAPFA Director Harwanto said, as a national poultry company with a total solution, JAPFA is able to realize its commitment to meet the needs of animal protein in the region, especially Singapore. This is an important milestone for the world of national poultry.

"With the strict requirements of the country, JAPFA has succeeded in meeting Singapore's demand and standards. A total of 1,500 tons or around 900,000 live chickens are targeted to be exported to Singapore by 2023," he said in a written statement, Monday, May 15.

He said that the delivery of live chickens abroad, the first in history, was a collaboration between JAPFA, the governments of Indonesia, Singapore and other stakeholders.

"Not only live chickens, we are also exploring export opportunities for other poultry products," he said.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Animal Husbandry and Health, the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Ir. Nasrullah, said that he should be proud, because today's exports to Singapore are proof that Indonesian livestock products have good quality and are able to meet food security guarantees that comply with international standards.

"As we also know, the potential production of national broiler meat in 2022 is recorded at 3.67 million tons. This shows that Indonesia is a country that is able to supply poultry needs and its derivative products not only for the people of Indonesia but is ready to supply global food needs," he said.
