Supporting Sharia Economics, Ministry Of Industry Holds Halal Industry Product Exhibition

The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) held a halal industrial product exhibition at the Ministry of Industry Building, Jakarta, on May 9-12, 2023.

The event was held to empower the national halal industry to the center of world halal producers

On this occasion, Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said, the Islamic economy and the halal industry continue to prove themselves as an important pillar of the economy and become a source of new growth machines, both at the global and domestic levels.

"In the country, the contribution of Islamic economics and finance to development is also quite significant," said Minister of Industry Agus at the Ministry of Industry Building, Jakarta, on Tuesday, May 9.

Agus said that the growth of the sharia economy and the halal industry is also getting stronger, supported by several main drivers, such as the large Muslim population, increasing awareness of the values of Islamic ethics related to consumption of halal products and thioyyib.

Then due to the increasing number of national strategies and programs dedicated to product development and halal services.

As a home for the largest Muslim population in the world with a population of 241.7 million in 2022 or 87 percent of the total 277.75 million people, Indonesia's Muslim spending on halal products and services is projected to increase by 14.96 percent by 2025, which is 281.6 billion US dollars.

"This makes Indonesia the largest consumer of the halal market in the world, which is 11.34 percent of halal expenditure," said Agus.

The mandatory halal application for their own products has been regulated in PP number 39 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of the Halal Product Guarantee Sector.

"We at the Ministry of Industry are committed to supporting this stage as much as possible. Of course we cannot, collaboration and coordination with all relevant agencies are needed," said Agus.

Furthermore, said Minister of Industry Agus, as a form of his party's seriousness in supporting the national Halal program, the Ministry of Industry has included Halal Industry Empowerment as part of the National Industrial Policy (KIN) as stipulated in Presidential Regulation number 74 of 2022 concerning National Industrial Policy for 2020-2024.

"With experience as the leading sector in implementing the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) industry, the Ministry of Industry believes it will play a major role in the Halal Product Guarantee System (SJPH) in the future," he concluded.

For your information, throughout 2022, the Ministry of Industry through the Center for Halal Industry Empowerment has facilitated competency certification for 36 halal auditor personnel and 1,205 halal investigators. In addition, halal industry certification assistance has also been provided to 1,095 IKM and will continue this year.
