JAKARTA - Mozilla is expanding its social media platform within Mastodon on a mission to make the internet better for everyone.
The company has opened its own server or instance, in the Mastodon term for Mozilla.social into private beta testing.
In his announcement, Mozilla did not intend to be completely permissive of free speech and being neutral was not part of his plan.
Mozilla says users will see a huge difference in the content moderation approach at Mozilla.social compared to other major social media platforms.
"We are not building a self-declared neutral platform. We believe that too often, neutrality is used as an excuse to allow behavior and content designed to harass and harm people from communities who are always abused and violent," Mozilla said, quoted Friday, May 5.
"Our content moderation plan is rooted in the goals and values expressed in our Mozilla Manifesto human dignity, inclusion, security, individual expression, and collaboration.
