Losing To Japan, Indonesia Runner Up Badminton Asia Junior Championships 2023

JAKARTA Indonesia must be satisfied to be the runner-up for the 2023 Badminton Asia Junior Championship after losing 2-3 against Japan in the final match, Tuesday, July 11.

Indonesia lost after the men's doubles Muhammad Al Farizi/Nikolaus Joaquin who took part in the last match fell to their knees in front of the Japanese pair Kenta Matsukawa/Daigo Tanioka at the Amongrogo Sports Hall, Yogyakarta.

Farizi/Joaquin had to admit the Kenta/Daigo pair through a rubber game battle with a final score of 11-21, 21-19, 13-21.

"We have issued the best form of play in this match. We have both played optimally and displayed the best game," said Farizi after the match in a statement received.

The captain of the Indonesian team, Alwi Farhan, said he was proud of his colleagues. After making thorough preparations, the achievements that have been made are considered proud.

"I am proud of the struggle of my friends who have shown the best game. We are trying to get up to get better results," said the player who was born in Surakarta, May 12, 2005.

This runner-up score repeats the achievements in Indonesia in the 2019 edition. At that time, Indonesia lost to Thailand in the final match with a similar score against Japan in this year's edition.

In this year's final, Indonesia lost the first point after the couple Adrian Pratama/Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu.

Women's singles Mutiara Ayu Puspitasari and men's singles Alwi Farhan then turned things around before Japan locked in the next two wins.
