Rejecting Munaslub, Golkar Party Council Solid Supports Airlangga Hartarto's Leadership

Golkar Chairman Airlangga Hartarto and three Council Chairs held a meeting in Jakarta, Wednesday, August 2, 2023

JAKARTA Three elements of the chairman of the Golkar Party's DPP Council stated that they solidly support the leadership of Golkar Chairman Airlangga Hartarto. The three Golkar Party Councils stated that they rejected the discourse of extraordinary and solid national deliberation to support Airlangga, namely the Board of Trustees, Honorary Council, and the Expert Council.

This support was conveyed by the three chairmen of the council during a meeting with the General Chairperson of the Golkar Party DPP Airlangga Hartarto in Jakarta, Wednesday, August 2 evening. A closed meeting between Airlangga and the chairmen of the council was held at the Menteng Platform, Central Jakarta, since 19.00 WIB.

During the meeting, Airlangga was accompanied by the Secretary General of the Golkar Party DPP Lodewijk F Paulus. Meanwhile, the three chairmen of the council who attended, Chairman of the Board of Trustees Aburizal Bakrie, Chairman of the Honorary Council Akbar Tandjung, and Chairman of the Council of Experts Agung Laksono.

Secretary General of the Golkar Party DPP Lodewijk F Paulus said the meeting between Airlangga and the chairman of the council was fluid and full of kinship.

He said that Airlangga's closeness with the chairmen of the council made the atmosphere of the meeting that was held while the dinner was full of laughter.

"The chairman of the council, Mr. Ical (Chairman of the Board of Trustees), Mr. Agung (Chairman of the Expert Council), and Mr. Akbar Tandjung (Chairman of the Honorary Council), expressed his support for Airlangga to complete the leadership period of the Golkar Ketum until 2024 and reject the idea of a munaslub," said Lodewijk.

The Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives added that in addition to rejecting the munaslub and expressing support for Airlangga's leadership, the chairmen of the council also expressed their full support for the Golkar Ketum regarding the party's attitude and strategy bearing the banyan tree in the 2024 presidential election. Including the determination of the coalition and the names of presidential and vice presidential candidates.

The chairman of the council handed over a decision regarding the coalition pair or the name of the presidential and vice-presidential candidates to General Chair Airlangga Hartarto. They emphasized that this is a mandate from the 2019 National Conference which was strengthened by the 2020 Rapimnas and the National Working Meeting," said Lodewijk.

The Secretary General of Golkar added that at the end of the meeting, Airlangga wore a striped yellow jacket to all the chairman of the council. This yellow striped jacket was also worn by all the Chairmen of the Golkar Party's Level I DPD when they met Airlangga in Bali.

Previously, the chairmen of the council had stated that they rejected the discourse of the munaslub and supported Airlangga Hartarto's leadership. This attitude is an affirmation to reject the discourse of the congress conveyed by a handful of parties. The chairmen of the council also invited all Golkar administrators and cadres to be solid ahead of the 2024 General Election.

The Secretary General added that the chairmen of the Council advised the DPP administrators at all levels to maintain solidity and focus on preparing themselves to win the legislative and presidential elections in the 2024 General Election.

"There should be no more internal conflicts that are actually counterproductive to the ideals of the Golkar Party, restoring victory like the 2004 election," said Lodewijk.
