Jokowi Asks HIPMI-Kadin To Synergize With Apindo To Overcome Stunting Cases

President Joko Widodo asked employers' associations, such as the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) to the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) to assist the Indonesian Employers' Association (Apindo) in suppressing stunting cases.

In his remarks attending the inauguration of the Apindo DPN, President Jokowi appreciated the steps taken by Apindo Chairman Shinta Kamdani to emphasize the decrease in the number of stunting cases in the superior association work program.

"Usually, when we talk in Apindo, we always talk about profit and loss, how much profit, but this afternoon I am happy that Apindo is talking about stunting and I hope that later Kadin, HIPMI will also participate, and talk about stunting," said President Jokowi as reported by ANTARA, Monday, July 31.

The President praised Shinta Kamdani as the first woman to serve as Chairperson of Apindo, who had been around 70 years ago.

According to the President, Shinta's election was a good start, considering that the first thing he received was stunting.

President Jokowi said the number of toddlers who experienced stunting or tengkes was very high, namely 37 percent in 2015.

By the end of 2022, the number of stunting toddlers in Indonesia has fallen to 22 percent, and is targeted to be 14 percent by 2024.

The Head of State admits that the decline in stunting cases is not easy in the field. Therefore, he asked for participation from entrepreneurs, especially Apindo.

"I am sure that the difficulties and insecurity will be able to achieve the target if there are participations and entrepreneurs, and I appreciate Apindo once again in terms of stunting," said Jokowi.
