Effective In Early August, ASDP Begins To Socialize Crossing Tariff Adjustments

JAKARTA - PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) will implement new tariff adjustments on 29 crossings throughout Indonesia. This tariff adjustment will take effect from August 3, 2023.

Corporate Secretary of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) Shelvy Arifin said the tariff adjustment was in accordance with the Decree of the Minister of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia Number KM 61 of 2023 concerning Tariffs for the Implementation of Cross-Economic Class Crossing and Cross-province Transport.

"In line with this tariff adjustment, ASDP continues to strive to continue to provide services by prioritizing the safety, security and comfort aspects of service users," he said in an official statement, Sunday, July 23.

"For ASDP itself, of course, it is hoped that the operational and business sustainability of Crossing and Port Transportation Business Entities will run stably and become an encouragement for ASDP to continue to provide excellent service for service users," he continued.

Shelvy said adjustments to the amount of cross-over economy class transportation rates between provinces or across countries were made in order to improve crossing transportation services, shipping safety and security, the continuity of the ferry transportation industry and also increase competitiveness with other modes.

The tariff adjustments will officially be applied on August 3, 2023, on 29 crossings, namely, Merak - Bakauheni, Ketapang-Lembar, Janger-Lembar, Janger-Kupang, Ketapang-Gilimanuk, Padangbai-Lembar, Surabaya-Lembar, Kendal-Kumai, Sape-Waikelo, and Sape-Labuan Bajo.

Then, Sape-Wayapu, Tanjung Api-Tanjung Kalian, Batam-Kuala Tungkal, Batam-Menangkapan, Batam-Sei Selari, Karimun-Menkapan, Karimun-Sei Selari, Menangkapan-Tanjung Pinang, Dumai-Malaka, Dabo-Kuala Tungkal, Bajoe-Kolaka, Balikpapan-Taipapan-Mamuju, Bitung-Ternate, Bira-Sikeli, Bitung-Tobelo, Pagimana-Gorontalo, Siwa-Lasusua, and Batulicin - Garongkong.

Motivater Factors

Shelvy revealed that a number of factors that encourage tariff adjustments include an increase in fuel oil costs (BBM), an increase in the City Minimum Wage (UMK), inflation, and an increase in dollar exchange rates which have an impact on ship maintenance and repair costs.

These components have an impact on increasing the cost of ship crossing services, including those managed by ASDP. One of the energy components contributes quite dominantly, which is around 40-50 percent of operational costs.

In addition, continued Shelvy, the tariff adjustment is an effort to meet minimum service standards.

"ASDP continues to improve the quality of service to service users, the increase in tariffs is nothing but also carried out to support minimum service standards so that people can cross safely, comfortably and safely," he said.

Plt. Director of River, Lake and Crossing Transportation Bambang Siswoyo explained that the tariff adjustment policy was set in line with the hope of increasing service and safety aspects after increasing fuel prices which had an impact on rising ship parts prices. Then rather than that, this will also open up investment opportunities in sea transportation modes.

The amount of transportation tariff adjustments nationally is up to 5 percent. One of the implementations of the integrated tariff for Merak-Bakauheni as the busiest crossing route in Indonesia, was 5.26 percent.

Pedestrians have adjusted from Rp21,600 to Rp22,700, while for motorcycles from Rp58,550 to Rp60,600. Then the integrated tariff for the group of vehicles is as follows:

The IV A group, which was originally IDR 457,700, became IDR 481,800,

Group IV B from Rp425,250 to Rp447,800,

The V A class, which was originally Rp916,250, became Rp963,800,

The group V B changed from Rp792,750 to Rp835,300,

The VI A class from Rp1,516,500 to Rp1,594,800,

Group VI B from Rp1,220,000 to Rp1,285,200,

"Golongan VII from Rp1,761,500 to Rp1,860,400,"

"Golongan VIII from Rp2,320,500 to Rp2,452,400,"

The IX class from IDR 3,546,500 to IDR 3,755,000.

"The government hopes that this tariff adjustment can run well, smoothly, and under control. BPTD is also expected to supervise socialization in their respective working areas," said Bambang.
